(HealthDay News) — A hip strain occurs when tendons or muscles are stretched or torn.
To avoid the problem, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons advises:
- Protect tissues that have already been injured, as they are more susceptible to another strain.
- Gently stretch and loosen muscles.
- Always warm up before exercise.
- Gradually increase the duration and intensity of exercise. Too much exercise too quickly increases your risk of hip strain.
