(HealthDay News) — Talking to your kids about the risks of smoking can help them kick the habit before they start.
The University of Michigan Health System advises parents to:
- Quit if you’re a smoker. Learn more about the dangers of secondhand smoke and how to quit.
- Join a smoking cessation program and talk to your child about the importance of not smoking.
- Watch movies with your child and talk about tobacco when you see characters smoking.
- Check out credible resources for ways to talk with your child about tobacco use.
