(HealthDay News) — Life jackets, when used and fitted properly, provide extra safety for children in or around water.
The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests:
- Show your child how to put on a life jacket properly.
- Always fasten a life jacket according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Never use an inflatable ring, raft or toy in place of a life jacket.
- Adults should always wear life jackets, too, to set a good example.
