(HealthDay News) — Cough medicine is a popular reach-for medication for people with a cold or the flu. But it may not be appropriate for every cough.
The American Academy of Family Physicians says you probably shouldn’t use cough medicine if your cough is caused by:
- Smoking.
- Emphysema.
- Chronic bronchitis or pneumonia.
- Asthma.
